Customer code

Your library has been assigned a personalized customer code. Please always quote your customer code on all your orders and correspondence.

Orders
Please send your orders electronically by EDI or on-line via our website. If you place orders via email or by fax, please quote the total number of orders or of the pages sent as control and please do not send additional hard copies by post. Urgent orders may also be placed by telephone

Please always quote the ISBN for the edition you require on your orders. If you do not have the complete bibliographical information, we will try to identify the title for you. If you do not know the ISBN, please clearly indicate "paperback" or “hardback”, if you wish to receive the hardback edition.

If the edition referred to on your order is not available, we will supply the alternative edition, ie if paperback is not available, we will supply hardback; if the 5th edition is not yet published, we will supply the 4th edition. Otherwise please write clearly "This edition only" or "paperback only" or "This ISBN only".

Using our Search Plus service, we will supply your orders for titles reported by publishers as 'out of print' or 'out of stock indefinitely'. Where a later edition or an alternative binding of your ordered title cannot be supplied, we will endeavour to supply the title via our Search Plus service. We will supply the best available copy at the original list price where possible. Should the price of the title exceed the list price by more than GBP 20.00 (or equivalent), excluding commission charges, we will cancel your order and advise you accordingly. If after four weeks we have been unable to source your ordered title, we will cancel your order and inform you. Where your order is for a specific edition only, you must state ‘This ISBN ONLY’ or ‘This exact edition ONLY’. Titles supplied via the Search Plus service are non-returnable.

If you wish us to quote your order number, order date or fund on the invoices please give us clear instructions as to which details you require.

Separate invoices according to department or fund can be raised automatically following your instructions. Should you in exceptional cases require a single invoice for an order, please mark the order form clearly with "Separate Invoice".

Please send us just one order for complete multi-volume sets (not one order for each volume); this is particularly relevant if you order at a set price.

For particularly urgent orders we offer our Express Service; for price details please refer to the separate description of our Express Service. Orders which should receive an accelerated treatment must be marked with "Express" rather than "urgent" or "rush". "Rush" orders are indicated as such on the invoice, but are supplied in the normal way.

To help you process the titles supplied we send a bar code label with each title on which we quote the bibliographical details of your order, the price indicated by you and, upon request, order number, date, funds or departments.

Order Confirmation
If a book costs GBP 250.00 or more, and you have not quoted a price or if the price quoted by you differs by more than GBP 75.00 from the actual price, we will ask for confirmation before placing the order or supplying the book.

Reports and Claims
Information regarding any delay in delivery is forwarded to you as soon as we receive it from the publisher. The content of these reports corresponds to the information we get from the publishers. We also offer you to check the latest status of your orders online via our website www.starkmann.com in Track your orders”.

If you have neither received the book or a report and if you have reasons to believe that a title is still available, then please send us a claim. Please note that all claims can be sent online using the “Track your orders” facility.

Depending on your preference, we can send publisher reports either by email or in list form with our invoices.

Payments
Please process your invoices immediately upon receipt of the goods and please make all the payments by bank transfer by following the payment instructions stated on the invoices.

Returns
Before returning a title with a value greater than GBP 100.00, or for FastTrack titles GBP 150.00, please notify us by email. We will advise you immediately whether the return is possible.

Please note that we should receive your returns within 30 days of delivery, as we may otherwise not be able to return books to the publishers.

When returning a book please ensure that it is packed in a cardboard box, not in a padded envelope, and enclose a copy of our invoice. Please also indicate the reason for the return. Books which we receive damaged due to insufficient packaging are not accepted by the publishers and may have to be returned to you with a new invoice.

When returning a title with a value of GBP 100.00/USD 200.00 or more, please send it by registered mail. Please return all titles to our London address only.
